5 Personal Finance stages in the Game of Life
According to Fabman from Richdad.com, there are 5 stages in our life that have different focus on personal finance. He does have his point in his article and I would like to bring it for your attention.
The 5 stages of the Game Called Life
1. Struggling – you have nothing and struggle for life.
2. Surviving – a comfort zone where you have a reasonable income job and all your debt is under your control. This is the stage where everybody dreams for however this may be a trap or a block on you to be rich because to be rich and wealthy, you must move onwards and leave this zone.
3. Striving – now you want to achieve more for your life. So you read books, attend seminars and keep improving your knowledge so you can invest and start a business that bring you to the next stage.
4. Capitalist – You work so hard in business and investment, so now at this stage you don’t really have to work any more because the money “love†you and comes to you automatically. Your income far more over than your expenses.
5. Charitable – Hey now you have enough wealth and everything in your life seems ok to you. So now you want to help others with your free time, your money and your knowledge.
Actually the stages above are also some stages that we will pass in the journey to financial freedom. First we struggle to make our debt under control, then we prepare everything and have extra money. With the extra money, we start investing and do something that brings more money to us. At the end, we achieve financial freedom and finally we have plenty of time and money to help others.
So which stage you are in today?

I think this is a little wrong. The charitable stage should be ongoing through steps 1-4. Obviously not on the same scale as when you reach #5….but you give, you get.
It’s not karma, it’s just a sociological fact.

I agree with Neville that charitabe stage should be ongoing in all your life. But I think the charitable stage mentioned above is the stage where you can spend most of your time, spending more money and put more efforts in Charity since you have plenty of time and money at that stage. I think this does not means we involved in charity at the last stage of life.
