I always hear that starting a business is easy but growing a business is hard. In order to start a business, you just choose what kind of business you want to start and then follow the correct steps to start it. Generally all the steps are fixed for different kind of business.

However story will be different after starting a business. You have to grow your business and make it become successful and profitable. This is the hardest part for your business and there are a lot of unknown factors appear around your business. This is also where most people give up and fail.

 

10 Things You can do to Build a Successful Business

If you read those business magazines or books, you will find that there are a lot of information and strategies to make a business become profitable. Maybe each strategy is different, but the main theory is still the same. Below are the main theories that you can follow to make your business succeed:

  1. Find your best business advisors. In this world, not everyone is born equally. Everyone of us has different kind of strengths and weaknesses. Maybe you are good in management and business ideas, but it doesn’t mean that you are good in accounting or laws. So finding a group of best advisors for your business is crucial. After you start your business, you will meet a lot of people and each time you must analysis and find out who can help you in business. Build a team of good advisors to assist you to business success.
  2. Put Yourself into Your Customers’ Shoes. Customers are the biggest and also the most important assets for your business. This is because they are the group of people who will pay money to you. So the best way to maintain and make them become a group of royal customers is put yourself into their shoes. In each case, you must think like your customers and try your best to help them solving their problems. Once you do well in this area, then you will have a really strong database of loyal customers who are willing to pay you again and again. This simply because you know what they want.
  3. Be Humble and Honest. In business, one of the skills that you must learn is how to deal with people. You will deal with a lot of people in business. For example, your customers, suppliers, employees and etc. You must build a good relationship with them especially your customers, suppliers and employees. The first step to build a good relationship is you must be humble and honest. Each of us love to deal with a person who is humble and honest, don’t we? Our customers afraid they will make a wrong decisions or being cheated when buying something. So if you are honest and humble, they can feel it and always come back and deal with you. This is the basic of building repeated sales channel.
  4. Concentrate on Marketing. Generally, business is about how to make money. In order to make money, you must build up your market. This is extremely important if your business is new and don’t have any market or customers yet. From time to time, you must think a way to market your business. This is a way to let people know about your business and pay money for you to solve their problems. This is why marketing is important because it let your business exposed to the world. Your business only can grow through a good marketing plan.
  5. Concentrate on Personal Development. Personal Development is very important for every one of us. You can read my post to find out why it is important. You must concentrate on personal development for you and your employee or anyone who involved in your business. By learning the new skills, knowledge or information, you will increase your business competitive power and stand out of the crowd in market.  
  6. Always Trust Your Employee. One of the advices that I learn from the audio tape of Brian Tracy, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is trust is the best motivation tools for human. Employees are the group of people who help you to run your business and make money. If you want them to be motivated, then learning how to trust a person is a must. Of course, you must understand each of your employees and pass the business tasks accordingly.
  7. Build A System. There are 2 reasons why you must build a system. First a system can help you to grow your business bigger. With the right systems, your business can transform from a small little business in your home town to become international big business. The second reason is it can help you to leave your business and free up your time. Once a system is being setup, it can replace you or help you in your business and let you gain back your time freedom. This is why you cannot miss this step if you want to achieve financial freedom through business.
  8. Cultivate a good business culture. You have system to control the work load in your business. All your employees just follow the system and your business will be managed properly. However, a system will not motivate or control your employees’ emotion. Emotion is another important factor you have to take care. So the best way is cultivate a good business culture or environment to help everybody in your business have the same emotion state. For example, if you cultivate an environment that honesty, politeness and patient with customers is important, all your employees will follow it and bring out the message to your customers. If the environment is strong enough, even a new employee will feel it and do the same.
  9. Manage Your Time Properly. One of the general characters that most successful people has is they are good in time management. Good time management means they are productive and accomplish more tasks than ordinary people. There are really a lot of decisions, promises and tasks you have to accomplish for your business. With a good time management, you can easily accomplish more and hence grow your business faster. Time management becomes extra important if you just start your business and you run your business alone.
  10. Balance Your personal life with Business. Last but not least, you must take a good care on your life balancing. Our human only live happily when everything in our life is balance. I believe you know what I mean and I don’t have to say so much on this. Just balance your personal time with your business and you will be happy.
