Employee Satisfaction That Hold your Business Together

Do you ever care about your employees’ satisfaction?

It is a big challenge to run a business especially if you want to make your business become profitable and success. A business is challenging because there are a lot of factors involved that will affect your business. This is why people always use the word “volatile” to describe a business.

There are many things you have to take care in your business such as customer satisfaction. You will find that many reading materials discuss about customer satisfaction and how it can help your business. If you are running a business, have you ever care about your employee satisfaction besides customer satisfaction? I believe not many of the business owner care about this. Let’s discuss the issue.

Employee Satisfaction is as Important as Customer Satisfaction

We all agree that customers are important to a business because they are paying money to business. They are the one who generates the income cash flow for a business.

On the other hand, if you think properly, you will find that your employees are also important. They are the one who provides some kind of services, advices and also the one who help you to collect money from customers. So we can say that employees and customers are linking each other.

Employees are the one who deal with your customers. They are the one who represent you and your company to serve customers. So in most cases employee can pass their satisfaction signal on your company to customers. If an employee satisfies with his/her company, he/she can pass the signal to the customers and hence make them feel that your business and company are good and trustworthy. I believe only with the high satisfaction, can an employee represent your business with the best performance and the highest enthusiasm. Essentially they are the ones providing the services to your customer.

Satisfaction is the best tool to keep people working. When you hire an employee for your business, you will begin to understand that it is not easy to have a trained and experienced employee to run your business. When a good employee leaves, you have to start all over again to find a new employee, train him/her up to fill the position. This is really a time and money consuming activities. Besides that your business productivity is greatly reduced too. You never imagine how big the consequence is. So it is better to hold a group of good employees.

I heard from one of my customers that it is important to make the employees feel that a company is their second home. With this kind of environment, the employees will enjoy their work and hence increase their productivity. People only work hard and be productive if they are empowered to treat your business as their asset or even their own business.  A Business owner has the enthusiasm to run the business. If your employees take your business as theirs, then all of them will provide the services at the business owner level. In order to do so, we must keep a high employee satisfaction.

How to increase Your Employee Satisfaction

It only takes 3 simple steps to increase employee satisfaction:

  1. Listen to your employees. In most cases, good employees leave your company because they are not satisfied or happy with something. In over 150 informal surveys taken, the most important thing to employees was “respect from my boss”. Yes they want your respect other than your orders. So start allocating some time and start listening to your employees. First you are showing that you care about them. Second, you will hear from them where the weakness of your business is at. After that you can start developing a new system to solve the problems. Your employees can show major and minor on your business system. After all, they are the ones who are running your business every day.
  2. Build a better system to assist your employees. You or your management team can set goals such as to be No. 1 in service, best quality, good support etc. If you set a goal for your employees but your business system or working routine are not updated. They cannot hit the goal. It is frustrating for your employees when the company brags  about its policies and leaves the employees to face  the daily basis broken system or working routine that make them impossible to hit the goal.
  3. Rewards. A reward is the best way to show your appreciations on your employees’ hard works. Maybe a holiday trip or a dinner meal will greatly increase your employee motivation and also satisfaction.

Employee Satisfaction + Customer Satisfaction = Your Business Success

Both employee and customer satisfaction are important to your business. I once heard that how you treat your employees will determine how your employees treat your customers. In fact, they will use the same way you treat them to treat your customers. So, understand what your employees need to do a good job and give it to them. Give them incentives to read your goals. In doing so will find that your company will become productive, customers will be happier, spirit will rise, your profits will get better AND you will keep your good employees. So try it today!

Hi Harrison, you make a good point there.
“People only work hard and be productive if they are empowered to treat your business as their asset or even their own business.”

The key is trust, when you trust your employee, they will be able to give in their best!

Hi Robert, thanks for your comments.

However, sometime we have to be careful to trust someone as today there are a lot of people who are not trust worthy. This why business people must learn how to analysis a person and determine whether he/she can be trusted.
