7 things that I do to Save the Environment

Today, October 15 2007, is the Blog Action Day. This is a very important day for many bloggers as most of us will unite and blog on the same topic – The Environment.

Actually this is an event where bloggers will write about Environment. The purpose is to raise the awareness of people about the environment issues. The concept we should pass is we write, talk and take action to protect our environment and our world.

So today, as one of the participant of this event, I will contribute my own 7 tips or things that I do every day, again and again to save the environment. Yes, what I do might be small or nothing to save the environment. However, what if they are 1000 of people read my tips and follow it? Then the story will be different.

7 Things that I do

Walking or cycling instead of driving. I know and understand that driving a car will produce the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide gas which can pollute our air. So if possible, I will walk and ride a bike which I can exercise too.
Using Microware. In my area, some restaurants still use paper or plastic beg for foods that take away. Those plastic bags and papers will cause a lot of environment problem if not handled properly. So since long time ago I have already used microware to for my foods. You can use Microware again and again which is an economic benefits for you too.
Paperless. I don’t like to print my works out. This will save me money in inks expenses and also save me from using a lot of papers.
Ebook instead of hard copy. If I want to buy a book, I usually will look for the ebook as the first choices. First it can let me to read the book directly after paying it. Second, I don’t need any paper to read the book. Just download it into my notebook or PDA and I can start reading anytime and anywhere without using any paper.
Reduce the petrol consumption – motorbike. Sometime it is hard for us to say that we will not use any vehicle in today’s life. So if condition allows, I usually use motorbike for transportation. At least it is less petrol consumption than a car.
Handkerchief instead of tissue. Yes, every time, before I go out, I will take a handkerchief and put it in my pocket. I try my best to reduce the usage of tissue in my life.
Reduce the usage of air conditioner. Most of the time, I don’t open my air conditioner. I just use my old fan to keep me cold.

In future, I also plan that I will grow a lot of plants and trees around my first house after financial free. Nowadays, plants are getting less and this is a bad trend for environment.
